God Chose You!

I once had someone tell me they thought flowers were pointless and a waste, because after you pick them and place them in a vase, their beauty only lasts a short while before they just wither away and die. I love and enjoy flowers, so I disagree with that statement.

When you think about it, we are all kind of like flowers. Each of us has our own individuality, unique personality, skill sets, talents and qualities; ALL God given, and ALL beautiful. The flowers in this bouquet each exhibit different colors, characteristics, and a variety of scents and designs.

I am thankful God decided to design everyone and everything to be different. It is what makes everything beautiful. I think it is important to remind ourselves how elaborate and specialized God made each of us when He chose to put us here on Earth. None of us are here by chance or accident.

The complexity of the human body, the structure of a cell and all of the components it contains, it is all so fascinating to me. The organelles within the cell that are specialized to perform different jobs and tasks, all working together to keep the body running, is truly awe-inspiring. Flowers are made of cells too, all living things are. God did all of that.

Biology was one of my most favorite courses that I took this last semester (and not just because I love doing Punnett Squares). If you take a Biology course, the first thing your professor and textbook will say is that “The cell is the basic structural and functional unit of life.” What they fail to leave out of that sentence is the designer of the cell and of life. Our magnificent and wonderful creator, the designer of all things: Our God!

I am not ashamed of who God created me to be, and neither should you be. I am not perfect, I am human, and I sin daily. I am constantly in a battle, constantly making mistakes. I am constantly having to ask Him for forgiveness and for help on the things I struggle with, and trust me, the list is long. I am sure many of you can relate to that. Thank goodness for God’s grace. Even at our worst, God still loves and adores us. We are His. He created us with love and a purpose, and we were put on this earth to fulfill it.

So yes, like flowers, we are all beautiful, and it is true that we will all die one day. God picked us all, and placed us in this vase you can think of as Earth, to love one another, and to work together to fulfill His divine and wonderful purpose in our lives.

However small you may feel at times, just remember how big of a difference you are making just by being alive today. You are alive because He isn’t finished with you yet. He chose you today. I am going to say that again: God chose YOU! So go out and share your talents, spread His word, share His love and light that He placed in you, and the beauty He instilled in you.

Just like the florist who picked these flowers to make into a beautiful bouquet, we were all picked by God and FOR God. Your life is not pointless, and you are most certainly not a waste.

Yes, one day we will all wither, grow old, and die, just like the beautiful flowers displayed in this vase. Life is short, and we all have an expiration date. However, life does not have to end there. God has given us all a free gift, the greatest gift we can ever receive in life. All we have to do is turn to Him and accept it. ꨄ︎
